1988

Not that I was a big fan of the Pet Shop Boys
I thought their version of this was excellent.

I'm behind with my homework! 1987 was the year or rap and 10,000 Maniacs for me. While I still have a soft spot for the occasional bit of Public Enemy or Eric B and Rakim, the Maniacs were one of my favourite and most seen live bands (I even went to Norwich to see them)!

Easy pick for 88, this is brilliant; was then and is now. The Pixies had a short window of being at their absolute prime and this is smack in the middle of it.

As I'm in the mood for music, here's the 1989 top 10 list.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U ... es_in_1989

This will do for me in what was a reasonably strong year (The Triffids "Black Swan" album, "Can't be Sure" by the Sundays and The Roses and The Mondays storming the barricades (well, Top of the Pops anyway).

Sorry lads, I've got to 1989/1990 and I'm really struggling to find anything worth posting.
Probably more priorities at the time

Either that, or the music really was bad.

Ok moving on to 1992 and a few that I could have picked from.

I'll settle for Nirvana - Come As You Are

I'm going to persist till I get to the "no good new music anymore" brick wall year. This is my pick for 1990, been playing them a lot recently.

1991 not the best year. Smells Like Teen Spirit is great but too obvious to post, REM's Out of Time album was ok. I'll go with this, The Manics announcing their arrival with there second single. Lyrics don't come much more provocative than "I laughed when Lennon got shot".
