Feeling please. I waited until I saw the Google shares top $1,500 (14th Feb) and offloaded 17 of the recent 25 shares I bought. Netted around $25,600 which was the purchase cost of the additional 25, so holding the balance of 8 shares for nil investment cost (except the lost interest on one year if one looks at things this way).Fruitster wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 9:37 amHas been an interesting ride over the past few months Col. As the European antitrust case neared it's conclusion last year, the market started to get very twitchy which I really couldn't understand, but then I've always held the belief most of these traders aren't too bright. All I was reading about was the fine, the size of the fine etc etc. When the shares slid back to around $1,000 a share I was just too tempted not to get involved.
Putting the fine in perspective, the general consensus was that it would be a max $2 billion, so you see why I couldn't understand the panic. Google has around $100 billion in cash and the fine was equivalent of 1.3% of the 2018 turnover. Furthermore, Google is now such a truly global company, over 50% of annual revenues come from outside the USA.
But there's no telling the herd sometimes.
So, although a bit twitchy myself, I jumped in and picked up another 25 shares.
The shares I bought back in March 2013 are really showing a very handsome growth rate ($394 average buy price so 280% increase in 7 years, around 16% compound growth) add in the strength of the Dollar and I really have coined it as that has added a further 3%+ average compound growth, so near 20% total.
If you look back at my post just about a year ago (March 23rd 2019) the shares were trading at $1,225 so they've kept the relentless rise going adding a further 22% in one year.
The recent share buy has turned out even better as I caught the downward trend back in October 2017 getting in at just over $1,000 each and offloading enough to cover my invested moolah at just north of $1,500 just 17 months later!
Looks like I'll hit that $2,000 target well before 2027 which I originally budgeted to achieve.
