At least it didn’t cost you the game. It’s giving away your pieces through stupidity that’s annoying. If your opponent plays a good move to take a piece, then that’s different.

H and I have just had our first draw. There were plenty of pieces left on the board at the end but we’d have probably ended up going round in circles. A fair result for a game littered with errors.

I sympathize with you. I detest it, and will no longer buy the stuff.

There’s no need for so many fittings. They could easily reduce the amount by making it with all the parts already in place, then all the customer has to do is screw It together.

Just played the last 40 odd moves of a 108 move game against my mate that's taken 3 weekend's to complete! *,

Mainly because of how infrequently he has time or inclination to play.

Started off thinking my best option was a draw (I could have just moved a rook to attack his queen or threaten check over and over and he could have kept blocking with his rook). I decided I was happy to do that and he'd have to break the cycle. First move, he goes on the attack with his queen, followed by me putting him in check for 6 consecutive moves ending with me swapping one of my rooks for 2 of his.

Ended up with us both down to just queen and pawns but I was able to get another queen and bob's your uncle. At the end of the game he was pointlessly attacking a couple of my pawns and making a vain attempt to promote one of his that fell two moves short. I think I just wore him down in the end.

Good game but I'm glad they don't all take that long to complete! :)

108 moves over three weekends sounds like torture. I bet we’ve done that in an hour and that’s including the lag.

It must be nice to have a queen left for the endgame. That’s something I rarely have!

H beat me 10.5-5.5 in the end. A respectable score by me considering he’s a much better player.

Saying I won the first 4 games it’s pretty close really. I’d accept “better” for now but not “much”. I make me narrow fav for the next race to 10 but the betting’s pretty close. You just need to reduce the mistakes a bit more and make sure you spot mine as I sometimes get away with a few.

Just beat my cautious mate in a 61 move game that lasted 2 and 3/4 hours! Enjoyed it but was ever really under any threat and still had most of my pieces at the end.

At that score, you’d be 1/2 to win the next race to ten. I think you would be the bet at that price.

I’ve had a dabble vs a computer today on chess24 and just can’t seem to improve at all. No matter how I start a match, after a dozen moves my pieces always seem to be practically in the same place as any other game I play. It’s ten minutes play and I’m still beat with five minutes on the clock!

A three minute average per move in your match! :lol

And that’s with me averaging far less than a minute!

Not keen on computer games as it’s never realistic when they simulate average play, always seems to be fatal once you make a mistake.

I don’t find some of it very realistic. The very low level won’t take your queen even when you’ve made a blazing error. The higher levels are far too good for me though.

The moves are instantaneous though. That is certainly a plus.

I’ve had a few more games this morning against the computer. I get slaughtered inside five minutes. It pisses me off!

Fancy a game at half one (maybe before)? Just going to grab some lunch.

Started watching a film on iPlayer last night, Pawn Sacrifice, about Fischer v Spassky in the 60s and 70s. Quite interesting though hardly action packed. Just watch the spelling if you search for it!

I recorded that the other night and watched it a day or two later. Wasn’t too bad.

After a 114 move marathon last night (the ultimate game of 2 halves) the score stands at 2.5 - 1.5 in Kenbo’s favour.

Just reviewed that game and still can’t believe I lost it. Should’ve been a walk in the park after Kenbo started sacrificing pieces all over the place but I managed to give my rook away at move 53. Even then, if I’d moved my bishop In time I could have stopped him queening and promoted my pawn instead, and would’ve won from there. Two bad “rookie” mistakes.

Kenbo fav in the race to 10 and I need to eliminate these unforced errors.

You really did chuck it away. That rook was a huge error on your behalf.

Fancy a game anytime after 6pm?
