Got to agree with you Col, from what little I've seen of it. Not one of his better career choices!

By the way, have you got any idea what these "monmouth bags of crisps" are that Jock mentions in the preceeding post? :)

'Mammoth' guys :) I could try and say they are from southeast Wales, but that would be bollocks.

Well let's hope the Queen gets a good full nine years after this weekend. We don't want any Coronation costs before then do we? :)

I would like to put American sprinters in Room 101.

Thought the Olympics were fantastic with the only downside being the inane posturing of these egotistical Alpha males. What is this all about ? It is not as if they are any good {8 6 medals to be won and they managed one bronze- won by a drug cheat :). Stuffed by Jamaica :lol

Anyone like to show their support for Fair Fuel Prices in the UK.
The 3p Fuel Duty rise that was successfully deferred from August this year, is now scheduled to hit us on 1st January 2013 – that’s only 100 days away!

Well if the 'posh boys' don't get their money from another fuel increase Col then it's another granny grab. Don't lose any sleep over it, we could always see another U-Turn before the increase kicks in.

Extraordinarily long live chat sessions with mobile service providers! ];[

Issue simple enough, get text saying top up before this date and we'll give you an extra £10 allowance, top up before said date but don't get the allowance, decide to pursue it via the medium of live chat.

No trace of any such offers at their end (been getting them for months before actually deciding to take advantage), end up having to chat to their supervisor to get it sorted. Happy with the eventual outcome, but took over 40 minutes for something so simple!

Won't say who it was, but oh to not have had to endure that on a Sunday night! ;)

the word Prank
I've yet to find anything remotely funny about anything described as a prank.

It's not a word we use in normal conversation.
Apologies to our readers from USA

Most likely to be used in the context of "a prank gone wrong" or to describe someone as a "prankster", as in Beadle or Mallett! Never a good thing! :)

Whoever told this guy he was funny.

Presumably his old man, who he seems to have roped in on the act.

Liberal Democrat peer: We struggle to get by on £300 per day tax-free allowance

A senior Liberal Democrat has complained that peers cannot get by on the £300 a day they get for turning up at the House of Lords.

Baroness Olly Grender, who worked as an adviser to Nick Clegg, said that the tax-free payment left peers relying on their partners for financial support.

She told the House political magazine: “What you don’t get is a hairdresser, what you don’t get is a bus driver. And why don’t you get those people?

“Because it’s unaffordable for most people to do this kind of thing unless you are relying on a partner.

“A salary in the Lords alone, a bank won’t accept it as payment for a mortgage.

“It varies dramatically because you clock on when you sit because it’s an allowance rather than a salary.”

The attendance allowance is paid instead of a salary.

Not sure if this is for Room 101, or a grumpy old man thread!

What is it with those flame throwing boxes they have before sporting events, currently to be seen before 6 Nation rugby matches. I'm a great fan of fireworks and will oooo and aaah with the rest, but surely mankind got over the excitement at seeing fire a few hundred thousand years ago - "Ooooo, it's a big flame" x-)

Good to see that Elton John is in touch with the real world.

After Dolce and Gabana made a comment about IVF, Elton took a strop and asked everybody to boycott them.
After a quick scan around the Dundee shopping centres, I can confirm that we are indeed not buying their stuff. 8]

It's starting to get on my fookin nerves.

Look out for it, I just started noticing this a few weeks ago, now everybody is doing it.
