Please be advised that there is a known issue with the latest Mozilla Firefox 6.0 browser version. The issue is affecting the left hand menu on the Betfair site and is currently being investigated by the developers.

As a temporary solution we are advising that customers either delete the latest version of Mozilla and install the previous version 5.0 or use Internet Explorer.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused

Just updated it today :(

I think you would do much better if you did not use them!

The recent advertising campaign by Betfair is misleading. It looks at the last Premiership season in England and claims that Betfair was better than Bet 365 on 178 of 250 winning outcomes better than Ladbrokes on 173 of the 250 winning outcomes and better than William Hill on 187 of the 250 winning outcomes. Those statements are true, but the false impression given is that Betfair is generally better than the high-street bookmaker. Nothing could be further than the truth. They write on their website: Our “Don’t Settle for Less” advertising campaign is simplicity personified, calling out our competition and making it crystal clear to customers that Betfair’s prices are consistently better than those being offered elsewhere.

The average overround of the best prices of the leading bookmakers for the Premiership last year was 101%. The average overround for Betfair prices, after allowing for the 5% commission that they correctly show (as their target audience will be those that do not currently use Betfair) is 104%. On average, the Betfair price is about 5% worse than the main bookmakers, after commission. In the 380 matches last year, Betfair was best price in 0, yes zero, of these, so it was clearly never best price on the winning outcome either. So, the advert is a complete con, using a clever comparison to deceive the customer.

And the above is disregarding Premium Charges, which successful players incur, and other charges for using an API etc. They also falsely claim that client funds are 100% safe and have been asked to withdraw that claim by the ASA.

Betfair says "Don't Settle for Less"
I only use them under duress
Premium Charges apply
Which can reach the sky
And they increase with every success

I think I could hear the sound of an axe being ground as I read your post! :)

The point is to use them when, after commission, the price is better than the best you can get anywhere else. Across the full range of markets that is often the case. Not as often as they'd like you to believe, but often enough to make it unwise not to have an account as an option. It's also a good option for when the bookies limit you or close your account, a far more immediate prospect for most punters than the premium charge. We wouldn't bet with any firms at all if we worried about their ethics or the accuracy of their advertising campaigns!

This is what my e-mail said:

As a thank you, all who complete the survey will be entered into a free prize draw to win the latest iPad. The prize draw will take place in December and the winner will be notified by email

I'd rather have £30 any day ;:) .

Dear Col,

Be one of the first 660 to Help test-drive our revamped website and receive £30 (€35) credit into your Betfair account!

Just got that tonight.

Maybe the response to the prize draw was underwhelming :lol

Is betfair ok for you lads ?

Just done some maintenance on my Pc, so suspect I've cleaned something out that's stopping the site working for me.

Anyone logged in this afternoon to find the Site all blue and certain markets missing? (I can't find odds for the unquoted in 'score markets').

No issues for me at the moment. When you say "all blue" do you mean the whole site or just that only the back prices are showing and not the lay? Had that happen once or twice, think it's something in "more options" settings.

One other thing, you're not in the beta version of the site are you? If so, click "revert to old".

Here's what Betfair said to me lads "You've landed on our new Sportsbook site". I could not access the unquoted market...only up to 3-3. I then found a way to get back to the regular Site. Thanks lads for your prompt replies. :thumbs

Problems for me with Betfair. I cannot access them online - nor have been able to so for 40mins. I keep running CCleaner to see if that helps. Online they keep trying to direct me to their 'Sportsbook' - which doesn't offer me the markets I want. I can log in on the phone, but errors abound trying to place a bet.

If am not the only one affected this will be costing them a bomb. Good!

In case anyone didn't get the email.

Hi

I wanted to let you know with plenty of notice that the Betfair Classic site will be turned off on Tuesday 15th September and any URL you have for the Classic site will no longer work.

Thank you,
