Knock backs from bookies

Post by The Fenman » Sun Sep 02, 2012 3:05 pm

Think ive just had the greatest one ever :clap :clap

Was in Hills thought i would have a nutty muggy union jack stick liverpool in the middle a few other things round the outside . . . .threw a tenner at it £1.25 unit stake i repeat £1.25 unit stake.

She rang up . . I could have the bet if i accepted evens Liverpool.

So in essence ive been knocked back a £5 (4x£1.25 stake) on a 5/4 shot :clap :clap

UNREAL :(

I've been persona non grata with boylesports for some time now. I've contacted them once or twice to query why and have been told that restrictions on my bets are market-related and nothing to do with my own betting. That's complete nonsense, of course.

Just for a laugh I've just tried to place a bet with them yet again on an upcoming non-league football match where the away side are 5/1. Having repeatedly decreased the stake by constantly re-submitting bets, I've finally been offered 6 PENCE at 5/1 :lol :lol :lol

I've just been caught out by a Betfred rule change that apparently I was e-mailed about on 11th May. Needless to say I have found no trace of said e-mail.

Sometimes I place small lucky 15's or 31's with Betfred attracted by them paying out 3 times the odds for 1 winner on a L15 and 4 times on a L31. The advantage of using them was compounded by them also offering Best Odds Guaranteed.

It seems they stopped offering BOG in relation to L15 and L31 bets on 11th May. Thought I'd just pass this on to anyone else who was unaware.

Many of the smaller bookies stopped taking my bets a long time ago, but normally the big boys are fine. However, I've just been knocked back by Coral when trying to place £200 on Bayern to win to nil tonight @ 10/11.

Can a firm the size of Coral really be concerned about my £200 at that price? They let me have £110.

Knocked back again by Coral. Trying to put £120 on a Heineken Cup match this weekend and they offered me £55. Unbelievable.

This week alone I've been offered £6.48 on a 6/1 shot, £1.92 each way on a 25/1 shot and this evening £5.01 on a 4/1 shot. How on earth does the extra penny matter? {:(

They are all cycling bets with Paddy Power 8(: . I keep trying because the markets are so limited and Paddy's initially have the best prices. As it happens, I have gone elsewhere for the first two bets and am looking elsewhere for the final bet. Of course the first two bets were losers. At least it's some consolation that Paddy's have lost out too.

I know there has been lots of talk about bookmakers behaving like this and it's all old hat now. However, I still find it hard to believe that they can't identify those markets where manipulation and arbing are not possible. Drives me nuts, as there are fewer and fewer places where you can get a bet on.

Waste of time these books i have to do multiples if i want a bet,i've have hard;y been betting since december just as well as the cards have been diabolical in saying that it's been happening to me for 20 years so pretty much used to it.Amazingly i get loads of offers on betfair off punters who reckon they can get bets on for me,i was getting someone in ireland to put on inh paddy shops for awhoile that worked well for a year, but recently they seem to be pricong up after everyone else so it's impossible to get bets on with them. The only incentive is to catch them out on multiples, but you need decent cards to find 4/5 picks i've even resorted to backing some im multiples night before and having picks in with them day in advance but obviously will only be sp.So those opportunitys don't come round to often have never been so quiet..

I know we've all had a moan about several bookies, but this one today for me takes the biscuit.

I've been limited by William Hill before but never to less than £30 or so on obscure football. This morning I wanted just a fiver each way on a 66/1 cyclist in Stage 3 of the Vuelta a Espana. I was offered 38 PENCE each way. Frankly what is the point, if one of our so-called leading three firms is so pathetic!! 8(:

Been restricted by Victor, Betbright, Fred, Boyles and a couple of others and my account closed totally by Stan James.

I bet mostly horses these days and getting early prices is what it's all about, but proving more and more difficult.

Will soon be down to Betfair SP only which is a shame as BOG is so good, having said that I have taken 365 for a right few quid the last few weeks and they are still good as gold, and so far Betfair Sportsbook have been fine. Read about a pro arber who who never withdraws from the bookies, he loses his money into Betfair and takes it out that way.

Do any of you racing guys use the Totepool at all, seems like they are decent for the longer price stuff.

Being restricted is pretty much par for the course now. :(

I find 365 to be one of the better ones for putting up with taking early prices. lads, boyles, victor, stan, sportsbook, all gone

Betfair exchange has to be the weapon of choice

Effing hell, talk about taking the proverbial!

I get an email from 365, as it's "Responsible Gambling week", headed "Let's talk about responsible gambling"! I'd love to but I suspect they and I have very different ideas of what it means. 8(:

Apparently "you should only gamble what you can afford to lose". Chance would be a fine thing with those risk averse barstewards.

It must be great to have a job that you can do really badly (i.e. odds setting) and, when it hits you in the bottom line, limit the shrewder customers rather than think it might be an idea to up your game.

Even RP editor Bruce Millington has been moved to be mildly critical of the current state of affairs!

I've often wondered how you guys here are getting your bets on, particularly those putting up bets at bigger prices the evening before. Are you just betting very small or are you using losing accounts? Possibly putting them for info purposes only?
I've seen prices quoted for Boylesports, 188, Sunbets, etc. Surely there is no man alive that can get a bet on with those.
This is no way a criticism as I know we avoid the confrontation of BF forum, just genuinely intrigued.

I don't think anyone on here quotes prices from Boylesports, 188, Sunbets, etc. Do they?
Anyone posting a tip will usually just quote the best price available.

You know the way you check your bookies accounts now and again to see if you have any money left unattended. :)

I stopped using Paddy a while ago when they started restricting me, but on checking my account, I had £5.60 in it. So I picked a couple of football doubles and stuck £1 on them
Logged on today to do another one, and got this message.

What a fookin liberty x-)

Punter left furious after Ladbrokes take £800 in ‘dormancy’ fees

A punter who is barred from accessing an online betting account with Ladbrokes which was previously almost £1,300 in credit said on Tuesday that “feels like a robbery” to find that the bookie has taken £800 in monthly “dormancy” fees from his balance, while denying him the chance to either withdraw or bet with the money.

The punter, who has disclosed details of the case to the Guardian, has been trying to withdraw his balance since 2014, when Ladbrokes informed him that him that his account would be closed as the result of “a business decision”. The account was £1,289.29 in credit at the time.

The punter had largely been funding the account via UKash, a now-defunct service using vouchers bought for cash which Ladbrokes previously recommended as a “quick, easy and secure way to deposit to your account”. When he requested a withdrawal of his outstanding balance, Ladbrokes demanded evidence of receipts from his UKash voucher purchases, despite having a full list of the voucher numbers and making no mention of any need to retain receipts in its terms & conditions.

Ladbrokes started to deduct 5% of the balance in March 2016 under its policy on “inactive accounts”, and had removed a total of £827.11 by November 2017, when just £512.12 remained. The punter has been unable even to log on to his account since then, but believes further 5% deductions have been made in December and January.

The case is the latest to highlight the ability of individual gambling firms to set their own rules on issues including account closures, restrictions and dormancy fees. All online gambling companies have a policy on “dormant” accounts, but the length of time before an account is deemed dormant and the size of the fee levied varies widely.

“I think it is incredible that something like this can happen in the UK,” the punter, who prefers to remain anonymous, said on Tuesday. “I am an ordinary punter, some of my bets were as small as five pounds.

“It feels like a robbery. It’s like going to a bank and depositing your money and then they say, thank you very much but you can’t have it any more. It doesn’t make sense.”

A spokesman for Ladbrokes said on Tuesday that an investigation into the case was continuing and the company could not comment further at this stage.

Re 'max stake for double is .24p "
I had similar with Betfred for a big odds golf double .It said max stake 0.40p . I put the 0.40p in and the message changed to -
" minimum stake 0.50p". when I tried the 0.50p, the message reverted to min 0.40p :)

Today Stan James has been taken over by Unibet where I have never held an account.

It has been a while since Stan James would take any worthwhile bets from me, although occasionally I could get enough on just to make it worth the effort. So I thought I would try my newly "transferred to Unibet" account. In my first foray I have been offered £2.14 on a football bet with odds less than 2/1 *, *, *, *, .
