Superleague 2020 (And any other club RL)

Post by harry_rag » Sun Jan 26, 2020 3:49 pm

Thought I'd start a new thread ahead of the upcoming SL season, and one that can cover all club RL, e.g. NRL and lower domestic leagues.

No thoughts as yet, will take a look at antepost and specials but more likely to be betting on individual games, especially tryscorers.

Have taken Toulouse (-10) v York in Saturday evening's Championship clash at the usual 10/11 (generally available). Always like the French side at home; they are really determined to secure promotion this season, and York have reportedly lost a few players.

:thumbs Thanks Nick, had a tickle (then followed you on that bet). :> Got 19/20 888.

My "forensic" (ok, pushing it a bit) study of the opening SL game has yielded a solitary bet, fixed odds or spreads.

Bevan French to score a try at 13/8 Fred (no longer got the good old Tote to go at for baldy's prices).

Not one of your mortgage jobs but do feel he's more of a sub 6/4 and most other firms agree.

Looking forward to the opening game and for a bit of interest have backed Warrington's hooker, Daryl Clark, to score at 13/2 (Bet 365). Nothing forensic ;-) - he's one of my favourite players, often plays the full 80 mins and in a likely close game may get an opportunity or two near the Wigan line.

A winner there; two in the Hull KR v Wakefield game.

Jowitt to score a try at 11/4 with 365

Brierley to score a try at 13/5 with PP (3/1 if you can get on with the Sportsbook).

Nothing in the other game thus far.

Good shout with French, Harry :thumbs . Chris Hill's early red card (fully justified) scuppered things for Warrington, although they put up a terrific show and made it a cracking game.

I guess Hull KR v Wakefield will be very tight this evening. With gusty conditions predicted and Danny Brough on the pitch, I've backed a successful drop goal in the match at 7/2.

Duly jinxed! :)

Have added Lomax to score a 1st half try at 5/1 with Lads. Forgot to check their price boosts as they quite often offered what seemed to be tasty prices in that market. Lomax may not be the worst price anytime at 6/4 but if that was fair then 5/1 would be big for it to happen before the break.

Brierley scored a try and looks like Jowitt was a non-runner so not too bad.

Catalans v Huddersfield:

Yaha to score a try at evens with Hills or Sky Bet

Louis Senior to score a try at 5/2 with 365

Toulouse red card on the hour mark and losing 6-10 up until the 67th minute. However a late surge by the French side with a last play of the match try gives a 22-10 victory to Toulouse to cover the handicap by 2 points!!!!!!!!! :> :) .

Great picks on Yaha and L Senior, Harry :thumbs :thumbs .

:cheers Thanks Nick and cheers for Toulouse. Hadn’t seen the score so it’s like the first winner of the day before I’ve even had a bet!

First game today sees new boys Toronto take on Castleford. 3 best for me that ring the value bell (running out of new ways to say that)! {8

Wallace for the hosts at 15/4 with 365. For Cas, Eden at evens with Hills (11/10 with BFS) and Rankin at 13/5 (boosted) with Lads, fine at the standard 5/2.

Added one in the later game.

Leeds v Hull: Briscoe to score a try at 2/1 with Skybet.

Castleford v Wigan:

Clare at 11/5 with 365
Shenton at 3/1 with 365
Rankin at 18/5 with Lads

Hull v Hull KR

Griffin at 21/10 with Lads

(Lads bets placed using price boost but fine at regular price.)

You certainly favour Castleford there, Harry. Good luck :thumbs .

I've just gone with a successful drop goal in the Hull derby at 7/2 (Bet 365). I hope Rovers can keep it tight enough at least until half-time to make Mark Sneyd's obligatory 1 pointer a viable option for Hull FC.

Despite the rather high handicap I'm sticking with Toulouse again tomorrow evening when the weather in France should be very decent. Toulouse (-34) v Oldham generally available at 10/11.

Sneyd waits until the 78th minute for his drop goal :) :) .

Good call on the try for Griffin, Harry :thumbs .

Well done Nick, hadn’t seen the final score in that game. Griffin better than nothing but could have done with one of the Cas players obliging.

Just the one in Salford v Toronto, Wallace at 10/3 with 365.

Was going to back Joey Lussick at 4/1 but that's actually the price for Darcy Lussick when you go direct to Paddy. *,

Good luck :thumbs . Not my usual price but I've backed Salford's Ken Sio at 6/5. Despite Salford being outclassed by Saints last week, they did show plenty of attacking ambition with Sio scoring one of Salford's tries and having two other ruled out by the video ref. He should see plenty of the ball this afternoon in very good (pre-storm) conditions.

Have also had a dabble in the Challenge Cup. Lowest ranked side Bentley visit Leigh Miners Rangers. They reached this round by overcoming the RAF but should find the National Conference side a much harder proposition. I hope Leigh Miners can overcome the 12 points handicap at the usual 10/11 (skybet and Bet 365).

No joy with Ken Sio, but Toulouse easily overcome the big handicap with a 58-6 win over Oldham :) :) and Leigh Miners Rangers beat the 12 point handicap with a 20-4 victory over Bentley :) .

Just a couple of RL Challenge Cup ties have survived the weather this afternoon.

Given the conditions I feel a 24 handicap is a lot to overcome so reckon Hunslet v Coventry Bears (+24) is worth a shout, although I'm only allowed £11.

The other match is West Wales Raiders v Underbank Rangers. West Wales have been the whipping boys of League 1 since their inception a couple of years ago and generally get tonked by massive margins. They have not yet played a competitive fixture and field 6 debutants today under yet another coach. Underbank are from the National Conference Premier i.e the tier below Championship One. They have already come through 2 cup ties against Castleford Lock Lane and Dissington so match fitness and cohesion should not be an issue. Underbank travelled down yesterday and should be well prepared and rested. Unless West Wales have recruited some gems in the close season I feel the visitors could tough this out and gain a narrow victory in the conditions. West Wales Raiders v Underbank Rangers 6/4 (Bet 365).

Skybet's loss as Hunslet run away in 2nd half to cover the 24 points handicap and win 36-4.

However, in deepest West Wales a comfortable win for Underbank Rangers by 30-8 :) :) .

2 games tonight but only 1 that appeals for betting purposes and that's Leeds v Hull KR.

I've bought Hull KR hotshots at 32 with SPIN. The players are Minikin, Kenny-Dowall, Crooks and Brierley. That's a contrarian bet for me as I'd normally be selling at 34 with SX but, in this instance, I think the value in the disagreement is on the buy side. Hotshots look too cheap based on comparison to the try minutes prices (admittedly only SX are quoting that market). Early days but I've been keeping detailed figures for this season so far and taking such bets when they crop up would have been profitable so far.

Also had a few anytime plays (including doubling up on a couple of the Hull KR hotshots). 2 out of 6 would edge me in front.

Handley 10/11, Walker 5/2, Sutcliffe 3/1 and Lui 3/1 for the hosts and Brierley 3/1 and Kenny-Dowall 3/1 for the visitors. All of those prices are available with Fred, a couple elsewhere as well. 25/1 Handley hat-trick worth a couple of quid with Hills too (brace price surprisingly short relative to anytime and hat trick).
