:lol A satisfying bit of betting there. A 15/8 winner that I was only allowed a fiver on and a 46 point winner that was just a paper trade! *,

Still, in the meantime I have successfully assembled some Ikea dining chairs.

Cardiff/Cheetahs: Dutched 4 anytime scorers here. Prices quoted are best available though I've had to take slightly less on some.

Maxwane 5/2 Betway, Anscombe 13/5 BF Sports, Lee 5/1 Boyles and Olivier 13/2 Boyles

Tiny profit for 1 scorer so ideally land 2 or more.

Morning all.
Taking a look at the RFU Championship. Small interest in Cornish Pirates (+9) against the Trailfinders. Pirates sit top of the table averaging 35 points per game, the Trailfinders are averaging 30. I think they're worth +9. Likewise with Coventry (+16). Cov are averaging 20 per game, whilst LI are averaging 33. I think both clubs can run the two "fancied" teams close. ;-)

Like Tuivaiti at 6/1 anytime for Zebre at Glasgow but a bit frustrating that I can't get half my required (and very modest) stake on across the two "bookmakers" who are top price. 8(:

Perpignan have lost all their Top 14 games so far and apparently view the European Challenge Cup as low priority given they have announced a completely different team for this evening's home tie against Sale Sharks. By contrast Sale would appear to be keen on winning the game and getting their Cup campaign off to a good start by announcing a strong-looking side, including Faf de Klerk. With the weather forecast and pitch conditions good in Perpignan de Klerk could have several opportunities to score a try. I managed 88 pence at 4/1 with Betfair Jokebook and a bit more at 7/2 with Paddys.

Newcastle play Exeter in some cup or other!

Some interesting anytime prices, done Radwan and Kibirige at 7/4 Hills for Newcastle so far. The former looks especially big next to SX’s try minutes price.

And for Exeter, O’Flaherty and Woodbury at 9/4 and Lawday at 4/1.

*, That went well! 3 tries but all for the same player and the one player who I swerved from my shortlist (Bo Diddely) went on to score at 10/3.

Munster v Edinburgh tonight, expected to be a procession for the home team.

I've bought Edinburgh hotshots at 20. I think that's at least a couple of points light and worth taking when there's a 5 point profit to be had for a single try from any of the 4 named players. (VD Merwe, Taylor, Brown, Fife)

I have also backed Cloete to score a try at 5/2 with Hills. 2/1 or less in most places and just about makes the cut for me at this price.

Ospreys v Zebre expected to be even more one sided!

Dan Evans appeals at 13/8 for the hosts with Hills and 5/1 Balekana for the visitors at 5/1.

The Varsity match is later today - any nuggets of insight Nick? :)

Might have a quick look myself.

Not enough markets, Harry :( .

Only comparable form is that both have played Richmond Vikings, each losing 33-7 and 33-14. However, one was at home and one away and one was played on a Saturday and one in midweek, so presumably the opponents' were weaker in the midweek fixture (or were they?).

Was tempted to sell match multis at 375 when I thought the weather was set to be pretty poor. However, the latest forecast is for no rain during the game. Sadly it's a swerve for me on the betting front.

(I see the girlies are 0-0 after 25 mins - the match multis sell was only around 170, I think. Wasn't brave enough for that, although could make up at Nil - was hoping to find some kicking metres markets for a sell, but found zilch)

I think evens is ok for second half to be the highest scoring based on recent history and have had the 250 (pence) Paddy were kind enough to allow me on!

If I had a free spread bet to play I'd probably sell kicking metres at 185 but will just see how that plays out.

Hmm, mixed feelings there.

Glad I swerved the spreads sell as the line was almost covered by half time, not sure what the final make up was. Most points second half landed easily so just a shame about the pathetic stake allowed. Was odds on everywhere else which was enough to put me off topping up.

Beziers/Nevers: Bought Beziers hotshots at 17 with SX (Porical, Douglas, Rawaca and Suchier).

SPIN 4 points higher with the less valued Puletua in for Suchier. The internet not exactly brimming with info on the second tier of French rugby but, taking everything into account, this looks like a reasonable low risk punt. (I once bought a French team's hotshots at the same price and saw it make up at 175, that would be nice thought I'm sure there have been plenty of nillings that don't abide in the memory quite as much.)

The bookies have clearly just looked at the Championship table in making Doncaster heavy odds on favourites for their televised home league game against Yorkshire Carnegie this afternoon.

The Championship has actually been on hold for the last 2 months whilst the Cup has taken over. In that period Carnegie have strengthened their squad massively and have beaten Doncaster home and away in the Cup in their sequence of 4 successive wins. There is definitely value in my book in taking Yorkshire Carnegie at 7/2 to win the match outright. Price available at Ladbrokes (with a boost) and Spreadex. Doncaster have been poor in the Cup competition and only make 3 changes today from the side that lost to Nottingham last time out.

There were loads of cards in both the cup matches between these local rivals so bookings is worth a small buy at 14 with SPIN (although they should have learned their lesson and may be more sensible in front of the TV cameras.

Carnegie need to climb from the foot of the table and will take all possible kicks at goal, I feel, to grind out a victory. Their full back Jacob Umuga has been slotting over his kicks from all over the pitch in the cup games. If Umuga's playing today (can't find out yet), I'll be buying Yorkshire Carnegie kicking metres (currently 83 with SPIN).

Pity, Harry. He's on loan from Wasps so possibly has returned there (although not featuring in their squad today).

[Have had a kicking metres buy anyway ;-) ].

:cheers Cheers Nick, just did the win. Well done on the kicking metres, and the cards if you did them (saw at least 2 late yellows).

Cheers, Harry :thumbs . Only those 2 yellows for a 6 points profit on that. Must confess with Carnegie kicking into the wind 2nd half and Elder not that convincing off the kicking tee, I closed at HT at 102 for 19 points profit. Don't know the final make up but must have been over 120.

Very pleased with 7/2 on the straight win - the bookies had well overpriced that.

Perpignan/Clermont: Yato to score a try at 11/5 BF Sports or 2/1 PP

A reasonable shout for me at 2/1 or better.

Premiership Rugby Cup today, so a little off-piste in terms of form and betting,

I've bought Bristol hotshots v Exeter at 22 with SX (O'Conor, Daniels, Morahan, Piutau)

8 points in the bag following Piutau's late withdrawal so effectively buying the other 3 at 14 which seems like a reasonable proposition to me, with them having scored 3, 4 or 5 tries in their last 10 starts. SPIN go 25-28 with Randall rather than O'Conor and he has a lower try minutes quote so I think the price has a decent upside.

Made up at 25 courtesy of an Edwards try! {8

Looks like I got lucky with him being the late replacement in the hotshots but the label hadn't been updated when I placed my bet.

To be fair, it's the only good fortune I've had today so far.
