Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

I can see why you would choose to do that Col, i.e. take some profit out rather than risk one of those overnight red numbers turn into an actual loss. What might you do; reduce the balance to £3k then let it grow till it hits £4k and withdraw again? Is there another way to reduce the risk as your ba...

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

Still following with interest, there seem to be a lot of open trades in the red(EURJPY in particular) so hopefully the machine hasn't had another glitch or you're going to end up with a sore bum tomorrow! In an effort to learn a bit more about this forex lark I'm going to go to one of these "free" ...

I had to google it; Non-Farm Payroll day in the US apparently and makes trading more volatile!

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

Going great Col, you must be looking forward to some decent gains in April now they've reverted to the previous risk setting. Any thoughts on your strategy here? Just letting it ride and enjoying watching it grow is obviously a perfectly legitimate option but I wondered if you had any inclination to...

Re: Music - Comedy and Videos of interest

Just listening to "Scott Walker in 5 Easy Pieces", a really good career spanning compilation. To say he had an interesting and varied career would be an understatement, from "Walkermania" in the 60s to his more experimental later work. He even managed to fit a Bond soundtrack song in (though I'm not...

No double edge to those comments Col, they've adopted the more cautious approach for a while and the decision to revert to more normal trading coincides with us reaching the point where we were supposed to leave the EU. Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

Sounds like they got bored waiting for Brexit and have decided that uncertainty is the new normal, which is not necessarily unreasonable! Either that or they're just, to use a gambling expression, going "on tilt"! :)

I look forward to seeing how March ends and April unfolds.

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

Be interesting to see if there’s an explanation for it, maybe as simple as there was an opportunity but it just didn’t work out, “shit happens” etc.

Sorry you’ve taken that hit, presumably it’s not the fact that there’s been a loss that concerns you so much as the specific nature of it.

Fingers crossed Col, hope it works out well as per your past experience. I know there have been a few open trades overnight before but wasn’t sure if that was typical.

Evidence so far suggests they know what they’re doing.

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

Just thought I'd share this observation for anyone thinking of investing but still undecided on how much to start off with. I believe the minimum is £1k but there's a suggestion that £2k is advisable given the current cautious approach to the trading. In terms of the 20% of profit you have to pay, t...

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

Hi Col, I get the 20% of profit per month and, as you've said, you only pay that if you've made a profit and the account finishes at a "high watermark". I assume the £15 per month fixed fee applies regardless of whether it's a profitable month or not?

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

So will that present you with any problems at month end, when it comes to paying the 20% fee, or is it easy enough to track the return from their trades as distinct from anything like this that you've done? Also, am I right in thinking you pay the fee directly (the 20% plus £15) i.e. it's not deduct...

Isn't that the same (possibly better ;-) ) as your calculator example?
It is the same but we haven't all got scientific calculators or the ability to mentally calculate 1.04 to the power of 18! ;-)

You don’t need to be good at maths to locate the post you’re referring to and copy it into here! ;-) While on about interest rates, the mathematical rule is always to divide into 72 and that will give you the number of years (or months even) any investment will take to double in value, 10% PA intere...

I think he means 3% is the return each month, not the fee. So he's getting 3% each month (presumably compounded if he leaves it invested). Presumably, if they generate a bigger return on his funds then they keep it. Hard to compare one with the other unless you look back on a year or so.
