Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

That sounds like a wise decision to me, Col.

As Charlie says, hopefully you’ll get to the stage where you are free rolling, and if the worst case scenario did ever happen then at least you wouldn’t have lost money.

The results are still superb.

I'm no fan of the Oscars, PW, but I see the black actor is 1/6 for best supporting actor. And the film itself is 7/2 for best picture.
Green Book actually won the Oscar for best picture. I’m going to take my earlier post as a tip, and claim a 7/2 winner!! ;x; ;x;

It’s well worth a watch.

Re: Film thread (and the odd book)

The Upside. Film snobs are panning this remake of the great French film Intouchibles. They’re wrong imo. While the story is the same, an American version will be seen by an audience that didn’t know the original film existed, or didn’t want to watch a subtitled film. It was funny, heart warming and ...

I look at the thread most days to see how you’re getting on. I don’t look at the link though.

No news if good news. If a load of posts appear in a day then things may have gone wrong! :lol

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

There’s a couple of cracking days there for what you’ve invested. You got 1% interest overnight on Thursday. That beats some banks yearly rates!

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

Could the server fee, and the percentage of profits you pay be deducted from your initial investment, instead of being paid separately each month? If it did go belly up after several years then you’d be far more out of pocket than what your initial investment was.

but would that be 3500 x 1.04 to the power of 18?

Isn't that the same (possibly better ;-) ) as your calculator example?

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

I've always been the pretty good at everyday adding up, multiplying etc, but when it comes to 'proper' mathematics I'm lost. I've no interest in algebra, or working out what 'X, Z and Z' are. So long as I can work out in my head what a Lucky 15 returns, or how much I've earned that day, then I'm goo...

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

I did mean compound interest without withdrawing any profits. Using Col as an example, if he put £3500 in and was getting 4% every month (without withdrawing anything in that time) then he'd have £7000 after 18 months wouldn't he? My school mathematics have all but deserted me, but would that be 350...

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

Fruity can explain it far more eloquently than me, but I think it's as simple as dividing 72 by you yearly interest rate. That will then tell you how long it will take for your initial investment to double. for example if you had £1000 invested at 2% then it would take (72/2= 36) 36 years to double....

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

So if we go by Fruity's 'divisible by 72 rule' (and rounding down to 4%) I think that would mean that you'd double your money in 18 months?

Re: Film thread (and the odd book)

I’ve just read No Nonsense by Joey Barton (No Sense would’ve fitted him more!). It was fairly good, and kept me entertained while not really changing my opinion of him. We all know people like him, they’re wankers but you can’t help but like them.

Re: Film thread (and the odd book)

I've just watched the first two episodes of Mayans MC on BBC catch up (all the episodes are on there btw). Apparently it's a spin off from Sons Of Anarchy (I watched the first series years ago but never bothered with any more, I probably should because everyone raves about it) and it also has a touc...

Re: Puntersmate Trading Investment

Although I don't really understand what's happening, my first thoughts were exactly the same as Harry's. It's one thing spunking your own money, but if somebody else did it for you it would be heart breaking. I was hoping to see Fruity's take on it, although I have/had no intention of trying it myse...

I watched the film last night, Jim. It started off well but faded badly towards the end.

I'd imagine shorter versions of it will be much better. They're likeable lads.

Re: Film thread (and the odd book)

The Quiet Place was referenced in the review I read on IMDb. I gave that film half an hour before I switched it off. It's definitely not my cup of tea. I've recently downloaded Show Box onto my firestick. It's not the easiest app to navigate when you first use it because you have to regularly switch...

Re: Film thread (and the odd book)

I looked this up the other day to see what it was about. I saw 'post-apocalyptic' in one review and that automatically puts me off a film (as does any films with the words wizards, ghouls, ghosts, supernatural, fantasy, dystopian, to name a few) It's a shame how a poor ending can spoil a decent film...

Re: Film thread (and the odd book)

The Prestige is on Sky One tonight. It's well worth recording if you haven't seen it. Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman (along with Michael Caine) star as two 19th century magicians who are at loggerheads. There's murder, revenge and deception. It was also directed by Christopher Nolan ,who has become...
